New Faces
Eagan Child and Family Care, P.A. believes that giving back to the community is an essential part of our commitment to caring for families. Our providers and staff feel that by working with students interested in health care careers we can, in a small way, help to influence health care delivery for tomorrow.
Many of you may have noticed a few new faces in the office. With the return to school in the fall, ECFC opens its doors to nurses who are studying to become nurse practitioners. This fall we have students from South Dakota State, St. Louis University, College of St. Catherine and the University of MN. There are two Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Students and two Family Nurse Practitioner students. The students care for patients in the primary care setting and learn from our seasoned staff. Welcome to the students and thank you to our patients for their patience in working with our students.
Our medical assistants are the heart and soul of the clinic. There are a few medical assistant programs in Dakota County that offer certificates or associate degrees in Medical Assisting. ECFC is proud of our relationship with these programs and have accepted one student every 4-8 weeks, on a rotating basis, to work with us throughout their externship. The students are here full time and are paired with one of our regular medical assistants. We are happy to have these students with us.
ECFC begins the 5th year mentoring high school students interested in pursuing a career in health care. This fall we have two outstanding students from Eastview High School in Apple Valley. The students learn about all aspects of health care; from direct patient care activities to front desk, business office and medical records. Some of the students have stayed with us and worked around the office until they go off to college. The staff and providers enjoy sharing their love of health care with these future leaders.
